This little girl is amazing us all at Reach Rehab Physiotherapy.   She developed a rare condition when she was 18 months old, called Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

Guillain-Barré syndrome affects your nervous system, causes damage to the sheaths that allow your nerves to transmit their messages.    This results in paralysis of the legs, arms or muscles of the face.  In 20-30% 0f people, the chest muscles are also affected, making it hard to breathe.  Swallowing can also become hard.

Some cases are life-threatening and the individuals are treated in intensive care units and might need to be ventilated.

This girl lost most of the use of her legs.  Only some of this has returned.   With lots of hard work, she is now walking with a frame.

She is an absolute superstar.
